Lima and Peru will host a double multi-sport celebration, recognized as the most important events in the continent. The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will start on July 26, paving the way to celebrate the sixth edition of the Parapan American Games in Peru 12 days later.
The Parapan American Games will welcome 1890 Para athletes from 33 countries, who will participate in 17 Para sports and 18 disciplines. Competitions will take place in 14 venues from August 23 to September 1, 2019.
The Mayor of Lima, Jorge Muñoz, participated in the ceremony to purchase the first ticket to attend these competitions, he purchased a ticket for the Para cycling track event that will take place on August 30 at the velodrome of VIDENA. Carlos Neuhaus, president of the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee, also purchased his tickets, accompanied by Lucha Villar, head of the National Paralympic Association of Peru.
This symbolic ceremony was carried out within the framework of the “60 days to go until the Parapan American Games” celebration, they are scheduled to open on August 23.
The Mayor of Lima, host city, highlighted the importance of the Parapan American Games since they will promote accessibility in benefit of athletes with an impairment.
“This is something valuable and wonderful, because we are organizing inclusive Games. These Games transmit values and thus, we are committed to helping this competition leave behind a positive and lasting legacy to become better persons. I expect the Games to be very successful,” stated Jorge Muñoz.
“Lima 2019 will allow us to show the best of our city. We are very proud of how everything is being prepared. The quality of the sports infrastructure that has been completed so far is of high level. As Peruvians, we must feel immensely proud. The Parapan American Games are an opportunity to face new challenges. It is an opportunity to transcend and treat everyone equally. To have friendly and accessible facilities where we can build citizenship,” added Muñoz.
The mayor mentioned that he purchased his ticket for Para cycling track, “because I am very fond of this sport and it would be wonderful to see the Peruvian athletes who have the privilege of representing Peru. We hope that all Peruvians can cheer on our athletes and have fun, with prices that start at PEN 10,” he added, while announcing that the Armendáriz viaduct will be delivered on Wednesday. This will facilitate the delegations’ transportation from the airport to the Pan American and Parapan American Village located in Villa El Salvador.
THE INFRASTRUCTURE IS READY
Meanwhile, Carlos Neuhaus announced that the sports infrastructure is ready, and they are only working on coordinating to guarantee proper organization related to transportation, roads and security. “The infrastructure projects are ready, and we are currently perfecting details. The most important will be the sports legacy that will remain for the next generations. We are 33 days away from the Pan American Games and we are working hard to make them a success. The Parapan American Games Opening Ceremony will take place on August 23 at the National Stadium and the Closing Ceremony will be on September 1 at the VIDENA Athletics Stadium,” confirmed the President of the Organizing Committee.
Meanwhile, Lucha Villar, head of the National Paralympic Association of Peru, thanked the support provided by the political and sports authorities and recognized the support of the Para athletes that will participate in the Parapan American Games.
“60 DAYS TO GO UNTIL THE PARAPAN AMERICAN GAMES”
A large number of national Para athletes participated in the “60 days to go until the Parapan American Games” celebrations at VIDENA, where there were a series of exhibitions of the Para sports that we will see starting on August 23, such as Para athletics, judo, Para taekwondo, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, football 7-a-side and football 5-a-side, among others. Mayor Muñoz and Carlos Neuhaus had the opportunity to participate in the exhibitions, along with the Para athletes.
TICKET SALES
Regarding the tickets for the Parapan American Games, ticket sales will officially begin on July 1 in all the authorized LIMA 2019 points of sale and via the web page: wwww.lima2019.pe
The tickets for the Parapan American Games start at PEN 10 and there will be a 50% discount for anyone under the age of 18, senior citizens and people with impairments.
At VIDENA and Villa Maria del Triunfo, there will be a “Day Pass” ticket, that can be used to watch all the Para sports held at the venue.
