MILCO PERFORMED A WATER SKI SHOW

The First National Water Ski Championship, where some qualification points for Lima 2019 were earned, was the perfect stage for Milco, the mascot of the most important multi-sports event in the Americas, to practice this sport and show off his skills—after being pulled by a boat—along with Peruvian athletes, which made the moment unforgettable.

Thus, Milco performed a water ski show together with Peruvian athletes, after 17 athletes participated in different categories (Men’s Open and Women’s Open). They scored points that will help to choose the participating Peruvian team for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

Felipe Franco, Rafael De Osma and Natalia Cuglievan, who won the gold medal in the tricks category at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, and María Alejandra de Osma, Lima 2019 Ambassador, accompanied Milco, who skied across the entire Laguna Bujama.

BACKGROUND
Milco represents the spirit of the athletes who will participate in 39 sports and 62 disciplines at the Pan American Games, and 17 sports and 18 disciplines at the Parapan American Games. He is responsible for transmitting and encouraging the practice of sports at a national level.

As mentioned before, Milco sailed in Paracas and led the regatta of athletes that participated in the Windsurfing South American Championship, where María Belén Bazo was crowned the winner in the women’s category and qualified for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

The popular mascot also practiced wheelchair basketball and goalball, which was especially created for people with visual impairment, sending a clear message of inclusion and equality.

On the other hand, Milco paraglided over Lima, taking in its beauty and sharing his experience so that visitors would be impressed during their stay when they come to the Lima 2019 Games.

Milco also visited the ceremonial Incan fortress of Sacsayhuamán. There, he spent time with tourists and inhabitants of the area, encouraging them to be a part of the largest sports celebration in the Americas.

GAMES VENUE
Laguna Bujama, located in the province of Cañete, south of Lima, is considered one of the best five water ski stages worldwide. The Pan American Games will welcome the best representatives of this sport in the Americas.

Meanwhile, Laguna Bujama was also chosen as the host of open water swimming due to its ideal temperature for competitions.
