Members of the Peruvian modern pentathlon team were at 7072 San Martin de Porres school to promote the Soy Lima 2019 campaign.
Modern pentathlon includes five sports: Swimming, fencing, riding and laser run (shooting and running.) Jane Collins, Jair Mena and Juan Condori, members of the Peruvian team, along with coach Nello Bernaola, held an exhibition the five disciplines.
It was the first time for these athletes that they could exhibit their sport at a school, and the experience was quite rewarding. Children could not be more amazed.
“We’ve shown the sport, because its practice is good and healthy,” said Jane.
“The exhibition was quite nice. We were able to share and teach our sport to the children that will be the future of our country,” said Juan Condori.
Jair Mena highlighted that it “is interesting to interact with children. We could show them five disciplines, that are part of a very demanding sport. We wanted to spread this sport and I recommend it.”
The physical exercises promoted by the Ministry of Education took place before the exhibition. Milco, the official mascot of the Games, also attended the event as part of the social and cultural activities programmed to spread Olympic and Paralympic.
The school principal Luz Andrade said that sport practice is important because it promotes values. “Sport is important because it encourages discipline,” she said.
With the arrival of the Pan American Torch, our country is starting to live the Games, 30 days before they start. Modern pentathlon will be held at Chorrillos Military School from July 27 to 30.
