MOVISTAR TV TO BE THE OFFICIAL CABLE TV MEDIA FOR THE LIMA 2019 GAMES

The Special Project for the Planing and Development of Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games is creating new strategic alliances with different media. Today, Movistar TV signed the agreement to be the official cable TV media for the Lima 2019 Games.

In this way, besides the alliance with Latina, Media Networks Latin America S.A.C. (Telefónica Media Networks) joins as a partner, and it will be the media that will have the exclusive Cable TV broadcasting rights. In this context, Movistar TV will broadcast all disciplines, produce exclusive contents and advertise promotions of the most important sporting event in the Americas.

In addition, the exclusive signal of Lima 2019 will be available on on Movistar TV grid, on channels 19 (SD) and 719 (HD), that will emphasize the participation of Peruvian athletes in the Lima 2019 Games. This will allow Movistar TV customers to enjoy live and delayed transmissions 24 hours a day; as well as replays and summaries of the international competitions’ highlights.

The agreement was signed by the Lima 2019 Executive Director Carlos Neuhaus Tudela, Media Networks CEO Alfredo Arosemena and the Lima 2019 Communications, Commercial and Marketing Manager Juan Antonio Silva.

This agreement was announced at the remodeled athletics track at the National Sports Village (VIDENA), which will host the different athletics competitions. Swimming, track cycling, handball, judo, badminton, table tennis, artistic roller skating, bowling and squash competitions will also be held at VIDENA.

Neuhaus highlighted the progress in the organization of the Lima 2019 Games, with the various agreements that are underway and the works in different venues. “We started works at VIDENA in March, 2018, and now we are standing on a completed athletics track that athletes will use in April for the first time. Little by little we are delivering works. This track is the same one that will be used in the

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. A high-performance top-level track where records may be broken. This is a homologated track and there will be a residence of 48 rooms, which will remain as a legacy for Peruvian athletics,” he said.

On the other hand, Media Networks CEO said he was excited by the progress made by the organization of Lima 2019. “What is being done for Lima 2019 is very exciting. This is a major event and legacy is the most important aspect that will remain. With this agreement we confirm our commitment to sport,” stressed Arosemena.

Meanwhile, Juan Antonio Silva said that this agreement will allow Peruvians to understand and see the effort made by the athletes representing the country. “We have gained a strategic partner. The Games are a unique opportunity to transform people based on sports’ values. This agreement will allow everyone to know the life story of the athletes. And the effort they make to represent the country,” he said.
