PALOMA NOCEDA: “THANKS TO LIMA 2019, PERU WILL ACCESS THE EQUESTRIAN WORLD”

During representation week, congress representative Paloma Noceda visited two flagship venues of Lima 2019. During her visit, she supervised the final works being done at the Army Equestrian School, before its official delivery. During the afternoon, she visited the Pan American and Parapan American Village, venue that will accommodate around 10,000 people during the Games.

Noceda was amazed by the level of the facilities and the speed of the infrastructure progress made at the venue of equestrian sports. “We see they are doing the final touches”. There is a lot of professionalism; the stalls are first class and the veterinary area is very well made. All training and exhibition tracks are made with high quality materials and it is important to have them in excellent condition for the Games”, she said.

As for the competition, she mentioned that thanks to Lima2019, the population will have access to the equestrian world.  “It is a beautiful sport, we always see it on television, live from international channels and now we can see it live in our country. The venue is wonderful,” she said

Located in La Molina district, the equestrian venue shows an 80% progress. It includes the Cross-Country Circuit with a 4,600 m course of new grass sown to stay tough enough for this sport.  It also has a new technical irrigation system to maintain an optimal surface to practice this sport.

Besides, the main stage for jumping and dressage: three tracks for competition, warm-up and training, made of silica sand, with a total of 19,500 m2, built according to the standards and requirements of the International Equestrian Federation.

THE PAN AMERICAN AND PARAPAN AMERICAN VILLAGE

In the afternoon, Noceda was able to see the Pan American and Parapan American Village. The construction is 100% completed since February.

The Village will accommodate 10,000 people and will be the biggest accessible complex in the country. It holds 1096 apartments, 548 of them of 70 m2, 212 of 73 m2 and 336 of 75 m2. The latter have been modified to be accessible for people with impairments. Each building has four elevators with a capacity for up to 18 people and wheelchair access.

She said she was positively impressed with the Village. "We have taken care of works since the very beginning and seeing that we have met all our infrastructure deadlines in advance is something that makes us really proud", he said.

The Village has tactile tiles in pedestrian areas and bike lanes to ease the transit of athletes with visual impairment to their accommodations.

“I think it is an important contribution, as we were lacking this sort of infrastructure in our city. There is no inclusive infrastructure such as this one in our country and this Village is going to show that all building and urban renewal projects can be made inclusive in Peru," said the Congress representative.

About the legacy of a sport event such as Lima 2019, she added: “I believe the legacy for our country is really important. We need all families to come and see that sports can be practiced professionally in Peru. We hope future great talents to emerge to represent us in all sport disciplines. This is going to be a first-class sporting celebration. We have to make good use it,” she said.
