“We are delighted and happy for what has been achieved in this year and a half. It is incredible and perhaps a little difficult to show it to all people. A year and a half ago there was nothing. Everything that has been built today is the result of great professional planning, an everyday work of the 2019 Pan American Games Committee,” said Neven Ilic to Andina News Agency.
In addition, he indicated that only a few simple things need to be completed, since the works in general are fantastic and top-level infrastructure.
“I have no doubt that we will be ready in time for the Lima 2019 Games,” Illic stated..
In this sense, he said that we should continue on the right path and focus on all aspects, like transport, logistics and catering, among others, to deliver an amazing Pan American Games experience.
Legacy
Neven Ilic said that the most important legacy the Pan American Games will leave, like in other countries of the region, will be top-level sports venues.
“In general, our governments do not build this kind of amazing infrastructure if there’s no commitment,” he stressed.
Public policies
Likewise, Panam Sports president said that Lima 2019 event in Peru should be the beginning for the creation of public and state policies, based on sport, so sport culture becomes increasingly important for society and human development.
He highlighted that, in this way, great athletes will be trained. This is an opportunity and a challenge for authorities and all Peruvians, he stated.
He also noted that there is no one in the world who does not recognize that sport is good and positive for health, education and training of human beings, and authorities must understand and establish a new concept of sport in Peruvian society.
