Guillermo Bussinger, vocalist and member of PEDRO SUáREZ-VéRTIZ®La Banda who is about to sing the song for the first time and in public at the Domos de San Miguel (sports venue district during the Games), expressed that it is a great honor, and a new challenge for his musical career to sing the official song for the Games.
“It's a song dedicated to all Peruvians, to all kind of public, and we expect all Peruvians and people from the Americas sing it,” he said.
He explained that this song includes Peruvian instruments such as the “cajón”, the “quena” and other typical percussion instruments. Regarding the lyrics, the vocalist said that it is based on the brotherhood among the countries, the benefits of sporting competition, and the importance of keeping the mood up all the time.
Regarding the creative process, he revealed that although the song was already composed by Suárez-Vértiz, it was “a brainstorming exercise,” all of the members of the team gave their contributions and suggestions until the end of the process. Bussinger stated that it was entirely carried out via social networks.
“It was a slightly different process because we’re all usually inside the studio, but not in this case. It was fun. I have always liked new challenges in music and for me it was a huge challenge. We have done everything via networks, WhatsApp or chats. I was in the studio with the producer Saúl Cornejo, and Pedro always gave us his feedback.”
“It’s a great responsibility, we’re very happy to participate in this event, which is the most important that has ever been held in Peru. I’m very happy to be in charge of singing this song. We’re happy and really nervous,” he concluded.
