Football will be one of the greatest attraction of Lima 2019 Pan American Games and the Peruvian men’s football team is training hard to win gold. In its second training day at the Peruvian Football Federation Sports Center, the 18 players selected by Nolberto Solano did tactical works to defined the starting line-up that will debut against Uruguay.
Thirteen days away from their first match on group B to be held at the stadium of the National University of San Marcos, Solano is betting on a team with first division experience. Carlos Cáceda will be the goalkeeper; Eduardo Rabanal, Aldair Fuentes, Gianfranco Chávez and Junior Huerto will be the defenders; Jesús Pretell, Jordan Guivin and Edhú Oliva will be the midfielders, and Kevin Pacheco, Mauricio Montes and Andy Polar will be the strikers.
Tomorrow, the Peruvian team will play a friendly match behind closed doors against Sport Boys at 09:00, at the San Marcos stadium. The match will allow the Peruvian national team to get used to the synthetic grass of the stadium, remodeled by Lima 2019.
“We are waiting for the beginning of an important tournament such as the Pan American Games and we are focusing on achieving our best conditions for the debut. The previous four microcycles have allowed us to be stronger as a group, day by day, in line with what the coach Solano’s wants for the Games,” indicated the mid fielder Jesús Pretell.

Defenders: Eduardo Rabanal, Jefferson Portales, Carlos Huerto, Gianfranco Chávez and Aldair Fuentes.

FOOTBALL IN LIMA 2019
Men’s competitions in Lima 2019 will start on July 29 with the matches of Group A. Panama vs. Mexico (10:00) and Ecuador vs. Argentina (13:00) In the second session, the Group B opens with Jamaica vs. Honduras (17:30), and closes with Peru against the current Pan American champion Uruguay (20:30).
The Pan American Games matches will be governed by the FIFA rules. During the first stage, three points will be awarded per victory and one point per tie. The top two teams of each group advance to semifinals. Ties will be settled with 30 minutes extra-times. If scores are still tied, a penalty shootout will be played.
