The circuit of the Badminton World Federation continues its course and has arrived to Lima for the Peru International 2019 Tournament. Over 100 athletes from Brazil, Chile, Cuba, United States, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Germany, Argentina, Canada, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, England, Jamaica and Peru will compete at Sports Center 3 in VIDENA until Sunday, July 23.
Peruvian athletes such as Daniela Macias, Mario Cuba, Diego Mini, Danica Nishimura, the Cuban Osleni Guerrero and the Guatemalan and Pan American multi-medalist Kevin Cordon were impressed by the top-notch venue with the best amenities built by Lima 2019. It will house three disciplines of the Pan American Games (badminton, artistic skating and table tennis) and two of the Parapan American Games (Para table tennis and Para badminton).
Three courts were adapted for the singles, doubles and mixed doubles simultaneous competitions. "It's the first time we test this stage and it's impressive. Most participants are delighted because the courts installed allow you to play with ease," said national champion Daniela Macias.
Meanwhile, the Peruvian pair of mixed doubles, Diego Mini and Danica Nishimura, praised the services provided by the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee. "It's a very nice venue with excellent lighting that allows us to play well. The stands give a unique charm to the venue and we imagine them packed for the Pan American Games," they said.
In addition, Kevin Cordon, men’s singles champion in Guadalajara 2011 and Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, stated that he was excited to see the venue where he will compete for his third Pan American gold medal in July.
