PRESIDENT MARTIN VIZCARRA ENACTS LAW IN FAVOR OF ATHLETES WHO WIN MEDALS AT LIMA2019

President of Peru Martín Vizcarra enacted Law No. 30949 “Law that rewards medalists at the Lima 2019 XVIII Pan American and VI Parapan American Games.” This law aims to honor athletes who win gold, silver or bronze medals while representing our country at the most important multi-sports event in the Americas.

Within this framework, athletes will be awarded an apartment free of charge at the Pan American and Parapan American Village, which is located in the Parque Zonal N° 26 - Complejo Biotecnológico - Lote PZ 26, in the district of Villa El Salvador.

According to the law, “the apartments will be delivered once the sports event concludes and after the corresponding supreme decree is issued, in a public ceremony.” The law, which was published in the “El Peruano” newspaper today, includes the signatures of President of Peru Martín Vizcarra Cornejo and Prime Minister Salvador Del Solar Labarthe.

The Pan American and Parapan American Village, built by Lima 2019, has 1096 apartments, all completed before the deadline. They are set to welcome close to 10,000 athletes and technical officials at the Pan American and Parapan American Games.

ABOUT LIMA 2019

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games is a continental event that will gather 6680 athletes from 41 countries, and opens on July 26 at the National Stadium. There will be 17 days of competitions which will take place in 14 districts of Lima and Callao. Some of the main venues will be VIDENA, Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center, Callao Regional Sports Village, Villa El Salvador Sports Center, Punta Rocas, among others.

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will include 39 sports and 61 disciplines, in which athletes will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. A total of 22 disciplines are qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Parapan American Games will welcome 1890 Para athletes from 33 countries, who will participate in 17 Para sports and 18 disciplines. Competitions will take place from August 23 to September 1. Additionally, 13 sports will be qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
