LIMA 2019 VOLUNTEER PROGRAM EXTENDS THE REGISTRATION PERIOD UNTIL FEBRUARY 22

In order to invite more people from Peru and abroad to the largest multisport event in the Americas, the organization committee of the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games extended the Volunteer registration period until February 22, 2019.

To become a volunteer, you only need to be over 16 years old by April 1, 2019. Be available at least 8 days, not necessarily consecutive days. You must be friendly, proactive and work in teams. Minors need their parents’ permission. They also need to fill out the mandatory fields of the Volunteer Portal form at www.lima2019.pe/en/voluntariado/inscripciones and follow the steps. Anyone can apply, from Peru and abroad.

About 70 thousand people interested

It is important to mention that the Lima 2019 Games Volunteer Program was launched at both national and international levels on September 11, and so far, 67,133 people have shown interest to participate. In total, 57.86% of them have completed the registration process, while 42.13% must fill in the registration forms to be considered as an applicant and be part of the Training Program.

Throughout 2018, the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) have provided 48 hours of training to 7483 people in Lima, Cusco, Arequipa, Chiclayo, Trujillo, Tarapoto, Cañete, Pisco and Huancayo. The Training Program aims to train a total of 30,000 people by February 2019 in Lima and other cities in the country.

Also, 287 people living overseas have applied to be volunteers in Lima 2019 and have had a video interview in 2018. In March 2019, we expect to have 904 additional video interviews.

Recruitment and selection process

In 2018, the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program implemented 66 agreements and strategic alliances with universities, institutes, private companies and other organizations, which are committed to support and promote the volunteer program in events and social media.

They will award a certificate to the students and personnel participating in the Program, as well as rooms available for training.

Likewise, 25,000 people received information about the characteristics and benefits of the Program during the events carried out at universities, institutes and squares in Metropolitan Lima, Callao, Cañete, Paracas, Chiclayo, Cajamarca, Trujillo, Arequipa, Tarapoto and Huacho.

Benefits of being a volunteer

Volunteers will receive training from Lima 2019 and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). A corresponding training and participation certificate will be granted. Likewise, they will receive a uniform, accreditation, meals upon the shift, accident insurance, national and international contact network, and the opportunity to live a unique experience.

Volunteers will be assigned to different areas: accreditation, accommodations, arrivals and departures, transport, medical services, doping control, spectators service, press operations, protocol, sports, information technology, uniforms, workforce, marketing, among others.
