In order to contribute to the success of the Pan American and Parapan American Games and minimize the impact on the public, the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee informed the start of access restrictions plan of streets near the main operations center at the Lima Convention Center (LCC) in San Borja.
With the support of the Peruvian National Police and Lima 2019 private security, the pedestrian free transit was closed in Av. De La Arqueología, in both ways.
Vehicle traffic in this avenue and in calle Del Comercio was also restricted to allow easy entry access and exit of accredited national and international press and international broadcaster personnel staff. More than 1000 journalists from all over the world will arrive work in this venue.
The Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games Organizing Committee thanked the neighbors for their cooperation and support. It also made a call for citizens to support Lima 2019 personnel in that area.
As part of the street closures plan, 16 bus stops were made available in Av. Aviación, Av. Canadá, Av. Javier Prado and Av. San Luis, to allow, to ease public transportation.
ABOUT LIMA 2019
The opening ceremony of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games will be held at the National Stadium on July 26, 2019. This continental event will gather 6680 athletes from 41 countries and delegations from the Americas.
There will be 17 days of competitions and ceremonies between July 26 and August 11 that will take place in 14 districts of Lima and Callao. These competitions will take place at the National Sports Village, Villa María Sports Center, Callao Regional Village, Villa El Salvador Sports Center, Punta Rocas, among others.
The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will include 39 sports and 61 disciplines, in which athletes will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. A total of 22 disciplines are qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Parapan American Games will gather 1890 Para athletes from 33 countries, participating in 17 sports and 18 disciplines. Competitions will take place from August 23 to September 1, 2019. Thirteen sports will be qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
