The Peruvian football team tied against Chile without goals in a tight match at the San Marcos Stadium, the impressive scenario of the National University of San Marcos that was remodeled by the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee for the Pan American Games.
It was a tough game and Peru did not have many opportunities to score a goal, but they did better in the second half of the match thanks to Yuriel Celi and Carlos Ruiz.
The Chilean Óscar Pinto caused one of the most complicated situations of the match as he almost scored a free-kick goal surprising the Peruvian goalscorer Julio Fierro.
The team led by Carlos Silvestri will play its second game on Saturday 23 against Venezuela, a team that today, in the first match of the South American Championship, drew 1-1 against Ecuador. Bolivia is the other member of Group A.
Around 18,000 people attended the San Marcos Stadium. Early on, long lines of fans were looking for a good location. The stage was provided to the Peruvian Football Federation by Lima 2019 to host the South American Championship of this category.
