Everybody wants to participate in the Pan American and Parapan American Games, and here we all play. In this context, the Callao Polytechnic School is getting ready for the Lima 2019 Games.
The school decided to paint a mural of the Games on itsfacade, with the participation of several visual artists. “We're the first national school close to the airport, and all foreigner visitors arriving to compete must pass through our facade,” said the school Principal Ernesto Chong Centurión.
In order to promote the Lima 2019 Games and within the framework of the campaign “Callao is part of Lima 2019,” the rugby team made an exhibition to the Callao Polytechnic School students, who looked carefully and learned about each technique and move of the athletes.
Fernando, a 10-year-old student of this school, who plays in a rugby academy, said: “I liked that they came to my school and now it's my turn to cheer them up in the Games”.
Raysa Gonzales, a member of the Peruvian rugby team participating in the Lima 2019 Games, could not hide her joy to promote this sport. “I'm surprised. It's the first time I visit a school, and I'm excited that the students are interested in learning about it. This is the way to experience the Games,” she said.
“It's very important that school-age kids discover other sports. I learned rugby in college, and it would be great if the methodology of this sport is taught, so a culture would be created. Rugby has values and mystique,” Raysa added, who along with her teammates are training in the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center.
Milco, the Lima 2019 mascot, also participated in the rugby show together with the Peruvian athletes and students who wanted to learn about this sport. In this way, they knew a new sport and shared a special moment with Milco. Lima 2019 does not stop and will continue promoting the Pan American Games and Parapan American Games.
