The “Soy Lima 2019” campaign visited the 0083 San Juan Masías education institution in San Luis, to promote the Pan American and Parapan American Games among the students.
Additionally, students were able to learn, through campaign's social and cultural methodology, the practice of Olympic and Paralympic values.
School students also did exercises in accordance with the Ministry of Education regulations, which establish 10 minutes of daily physical activity during the school day as a habit of healthy living.
“We think that we’re going to foster different values in students through sport, such as respect and equality, that are promoted in the Games,” said Martha Burgos, deputy head of the school.
The teacher also mentioned the importance of promoting not only conventional sports, but also Para sports among students. “Sports are not only for a specific group of athletes, there is a lot of diversity and inclusion, since everybody has the same opportunities. What a better way for children to realize that,” she added.
In the district of San Luis is located one of the venues for Lima 2019: the National Sports Village (VIDENA), which includes the Athletics Stadium, the Velodrome, the Aquatic Center, the Sports Centers 1, 2 and 3, the Squash courts and the Bowling Center.
“We’re going to promote the Games among parents, so that they can take their children and be spectators of the sports competitions as this is a unique opportunity for our city," said Burgos.
Around 18,000 students from 30 education institutions in districts where venues of Lima 2019 are located —San Luis, San Borja, Villa María del Triunfo and Villa El Salvador— will participate in the campaign that will last until July 9, in order to promote the Pan American and Parapan American Games that will start on July 26.
