STUDENTS IN SAN LUIS AT PARA ATHLETICS COMPETITION

This is part of the “Soy Lima” (I am Lima) Campaign launched by Lima 2019 to promote the Olympic and Paralympic values in schools.

Students had already received athletes at their schools. The goal of this activity was to have students experience an international competition for the first time and also to meet the Peruvian Para athletes who will compete in the Parapan American Games.

Susana Córdova, National Director of Physical Education and Sport from the Ministry of Education also attended the Para Athletics Pan American Open. She encouraged Para athletes such as Kenny Pacheco who stood out in the speed tests and Jesús Castillo and Raúl La Serna in the throw tests.

Students attended this Open with their parents. “It has been a very interesting experience because we realize that despite of the impairment, we can achieve our goal,” said one of the students.

Luz Rodríguez, Los Educadores school coordinator, said “this is an example for the students because they see there is nothing impossible for athletes with an impairment.”

Para Athletics competitions will be held from August 24 to 28 in the modern Athletics Stadium at VIDENA. It is expected the presence of the school students of San Luis area. “It is an incredible experience to see these fantastic people. Everybody should see this.” said Vanessa.

The Parapan American Games will be held from August 23 to September 1.
