Today were held the finals for the women’s 4x100 m competition. The winner was Brazil with 44s70c, followed by Colombia (44s97c) and Argentina with 45s65c. The Peruvian team finished with 46s60c.
Men’s 4x100 m finals were held afterwards. Venezuela won the gold with a time of 39s56c, followed by Brazil with 39s91c and Colombia with 39.94c. The Peruvian team finished in the fifth place with 40s97c.
The hammer throw competition was also held. Grasielly Marcelino won with a mark of 66m78cm, followed by Rosa Rodríguez from Venezuela (66m45cm) and Jennifer Dahlgren from Argentina (65m06cm).
In the long jump competition was won by Emiliano Lasa from Uruguay with 7.76 m. Paulo Dos Santos from Brazil placed second with 7.71 m and Raúl Mena from Colombia was third with 7.66 m. The best placed Peruvian athlete was José Luis Mandros, in the fifth place with 7.41 m.
In the morning, the Peruvian race-walker Leyde Guerra climbed the pódium by finishing in the third place in the 20,000 m evento, with a time of 1h 32min 35s, behind Karla Jaramillo from Ecuador and Ángela Castro from Bolivia.
The South American championship ends tomorrow with the fifth session, to be held from 07:30 at the Athletics Stadium of VIDENA. Admission is free through gate 10, located at avenida Canadá.
