Significant progress on infrastructure works has been made in the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center, future venue of team sports during the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
The installation of the Aquatic Center pool is one of the main advances made last week in this big sports center, where water polo competitions will take place during the Lima 2019 Games. The Aquatic Center is located at cuadra 19, Av. Mariátegui, San Gabriel.
After the installation, the Olympic pool with 50 m long and 25 m wide was filled in with water.
Another important milestone in the Lima 2019 construction works is the installation of top level synthetic grass in the main and auxiliary softball fields. Pavement in the fields of play of baseball, rugby and hockey is also ready and prepared for the application of artificial grass.
Stands Are Ready
Moreover, the construction of stands for the Aquatic Center and for the fields of play of hockey, baseball, softball, rugby, Basque pelota and fronton was completed.
As a whole, the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center will have more than 8500 fixed seats and so far, over 500 of them have already been installed in the baseball stadium.
It is worth to mention that this Lima 2019 venue will have two hockey fields, two rugby fields, two softball fields, one baseball field, four Basque pelota courts, four fronton courts and one Aquatic Center for water polo.
All facilities will have restrooms, changing rooms, modern seats, and comfortable and safe access to the fields or courts for athletes, in compliance with the rules and procedures for circulation and accessibility of people with impairments.
This great sports center will also host archery during the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. This venue will have an administration building, with porcelain floor, for all permanent federations, a Video and Surveillance Control Center, and parking areas.
Dates of Works Completion
February 7 is the planned date for the construction completion of the rugby, hockey, softball, baseball, Basque pelota and fronton fields. The completion of the Aquatic Center construction and outdoor areas will be March 13.
High-lamp posts are now visible in the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center, which will allow the practice of high-performance sports along the night shift.
After the Pan American and Parapan American Games, the Sacyr-Saceem consortium, in charge of the construction, will build more sports areas for community use. This includes 11 multi-disciplinary volleyball and football courts, two tennis courts, two children's pools, chess, karate, cycling and athletics areas.
