As announced by the world federation, Lima will be hosting the Para Powerlifting World Cup for the first time in its history, which will be a test event for the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games, announced the World Federation.
Competition dates are May 3, 4 and 5, and the venue will be the Sports Center 3 of VIDENA, currently under construction by the Organizing Committee of Lima 2019. This is one of the big legacies the Games the Games will leave to Peruvian sports.
National athletes Niel García and Diego Quispe, will be participating together with Mexican athletes Amalia Pérez, Paralympic champion and Jesús Castillo, current world champion of this discipline; Juan Carlos Garrido from Chile and Parapan American champion; from Brazil, Evanio Da Silva and Mariana D´Andrea.
Para powerlifting is one the 17 sports of the Parapan American Games, that will take place from August 23 to September 1.
OTHER TOURNAMENTS
The World Federation also stated that besides Lima, other stages of the world cup will be hosted in Pattaya (Thailand), Eger (Hungary) and Tokyo (Japan).
