The Italian technical delegate Gianluca Silingardi, representative of the World Skate, the world organization that regulates the sport, certified the scenario and the surface of the Sports Center 3, specially built for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games, which will be the venue of the artistic roller skating.
Accompanied by Chilean skater José Luis Díaz, Chile's number one and fifth in the world ranking, it was certified that the scenario complies with the international regulations and was ready to host the Pan American Games, which will take place between July 26 and August 11.
"The scenario is perfect. For World Skate, it was important to visit it and ensure that the track was, as indeed it is, excellent. Congratulations to the construction company because they have made a perfect venue that, soon, with stands for the public, will look very beautiful,” said Silingardi.
To perform the test run, Silingardi counted on the participation of José Luis Díaz, the Chilean artistic roller skater, who made a series of technical figures to test the specially conditioned floor and the type of sliding surface. "It's the first time I enter the venue where I will compete, and I was really surprised. I thought there was not going to be anything done, but the track is in excellent condition. It's also my first time in the city and the welcome of the Lima 2019 team has been incredible."
Sports Center 3 is one of the venues of VIDENA that has been built from scratch for the Lima 2019 Games. In addition to artistic roller skating, it will host the badminton, Para badminton, table tennis and Para table tennis competitions during the Games.
Two gold medals will be disputed in the artistic roller-skating event, one in women's category and the other in men's category. The competition consists of two parts: a short program (2 min 45 sec) and a long program (4 min 30 sec approximately). Peru, as host country, will present two athletes, one in each category.
