Lima 2019 President Carlos Neuhaus Tudela informed at today’s CADE Executives plenary session that so far 60,000 people have registered to be volunteers for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games that will open on July 26, 2019.
“All games are possible thanks to volunteers, and Peru needs a total of 19,000 volunteers, 12,000 for the Pan American Games and 7000 for the Parapan American Games,” he stated.
Neuhaus pointed out the Volunteer Program was launched on September 11, and it aims at registering between 40,000 and 50,000 volunteers to conduct the selection process. “60,000 people have registered to become volunteers, much more than in many previous games. That makes you commit and motivates you much more to maintain momentum,” he expressed.
Additionally, Lima 2019 President indicated 4000 people have registered from abroad. “We’ve visited many provinces and we’ll continue with the recruiting process,” he added when talking about the duties of Lima 2019 Volunteer Program.
“These things help you to face future difficulties. I’m sure about it. They arise every day,” he noted when presenting Lima 2019 overview of the formation of the largest volunteer group in Peru’s sporting history.
Applications will be open until December 31 through Lima 2019 Volunteer Portal www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado/inscripciones.
To become a volunteer, you only need to be over 16 years old by April 1, 2019. Be available at least 8 days, not necessarily consecutive days. You must be friendly, proactive and work in teams. Minors need their parents’ permission. They also need to fill out the mandatory fields of the Volunteer Portal form https://www.lima2019.pe/en/voluntariado/inscripciones.
Lima 2019 volunteers will receive benefits since this is a Training Program. They will receive training from Lima 2019 and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). A corresponding training and participation certificate will be granted. Likewise, they will receive a uniform, accreditation, meals upon the shift, accident insurance, national and international contact network, and the opportunity to live a unique experience.
