Two amazing guests: physician Ricardo Pun Chong, CNN Hero of 2018, and Daniella Fernández, sports journalist and host of Movistar Deportes, attended the penultimate edition of the Motivational Workshop “Good habits to be successful”, organized by the Lima 2019 Human Resources area. They also shared their life stories and highlighted the importance of the work performed by the Lima 2019 team.
This time, the workshop, which aims to strengthen leadership, emotional intelligence and sports values on Lima 2019 staff, was focused on how to be successful and achieve personal wellness by having a positive effect on society.
Pun Chong was appointed CNN Hero of 2018 due to his undertaking “Inspira”, a shelter that welcomes more than 800 children with cancer and their families while they receive treatment in Lima. He shared his life story using inspiring phrases and highlighting the opportunity of each member of Lima 2019 to transcend through the Games.
“There’s no major event so far than this (the Games). You will make history in Peru; do you know how wonderful is that? Working with such a large group with different ideas and thoughts is complicated. That’s why you need a team and not a group. We have to show that Peru is united and that we dream big. We can all be heroes and I invite you to be one in this important event.”
Daniella Fernández talked about her performance as sportswoman and her professional career. She studied veterinary medicine for five years, but her great passion for sports led her to study sports journalism for three more years.
“In 2013, when Lima was chosen to host the Games, I used to say: “Wow, how distant... Will we make it?” Now we are only 80 days away and as we haven't hosted a mega event like this before, this time we will become aware of all we can do. We would have nothing without you and your daily effort through your work with emotion and motivation. You are the cornerstone of these Games: what was a dream in 2013 could have remained as a dream. Today we are 80 days away to make it come true.”
Finally, Bruno Arias, test event expert of the Lima 2019 Integration Management Office, explained the simulation exercises that are being performed in order to avoid any problem that may occur during the Games.
“The topic that I’ll talk about should also be related to and be part of our good habits: to be prepared. The organization has a functional area that aims to help other functional areas to be prepared by means of three types of simulation games (live, virtual and constructive test events),” he said.
