A jumping and dressage internal competition was held at the Army Equestrian School, recently remodeled for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. The Lima 2019 Executive Director, Carlos Neuhaus Tudela, and the executives of the Equestrian Federations from United States, Mexico, Brazil and Chile attended this event.
It allowed to test the new silica track that will be used during the Games which places Peru at the forefront of the international competitions.
Jumping was the first event that was carried out in the morning. 9 riders participated such as Julián Drupat, one of the possible members of the Peruvian team to be included for the Pan American Games.
In the afternoon, the dressage event featured the riders Daniela Carranza and Erick Chaman, who will represent Peru in the Pan American Games in those competitions.
“It’s great. It’s a first-class and high-quality track that allows the horse to move wonderfully. I’m so excited to be one of the first riders to test it. The silica track allows (the competition field) to be even. There are no irregularities and we avoid injuries to horses,” Chaman said.
GOOD IMPRESSION
The authorities were very impressed and highlighted the location of the venue (in the district of La Molina) and the infrastructure that will remain as legacy. “The event has met our expectations, especially about how horses behaved on this new surface”, stated Leo Dupont, work group president of the Peruvian Federation of Equestrian Sports.
“Authorities have stressed the importance that the venue is located in the city center. Also, they highlighted the facilities provided for the development of the three disciplines and that’s thanks to the great work of Lima 2019”, Dupont added. The cross-country or eventing tests are scheduled for tomorrow. This track will be used for the Pan American Games.
It should be noted that the 3 Equestrian disciplines will take place in La Molina. Dressage, eventing and jumping competitions will take place from July 28 to 31, August 2 to 4 and August 6 to 9, respectively.
