testSHOOTING PARA SPORT

OVERVIEW

In Shooting Para sport, balance, control, accuracy and concentration are the key to success. Shooting Para sport is an adaptation of shooting for athletes with physical impairment. Athletes can compete in both rifle and pistol events. In rifle events, athletes compete in standing, kneeling and prone positions; while in pistol events, athletes compete either from a standing position or from a chair. For some classification events, a shooting stand is used to hold or stabilize the weapon.

HISTORY

Shooting has been on the Paralympic program since the Toronto 1976 Paralympic Games. This Para sport will make its debut at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games together with Para badminton and taekwondo.
