Holds, throws and great technique will be showcased during the Lima 2019 matches, where wrestlers must pin their opponents’ shoulders to the mat without hitting them. Women’s, men’s and Greco-Roman wrestling will be part of the Lima 2019 program.

HISTORY

Contested at the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and the ancient Olympic Games of 776 BC, Greco-Roman wrestling is considered the oldest competitive sport in the world with the discovery of cave drawings depicting wrestlers from 3000 BC. On the other hand, Wrestling has been included in the Olympic program as a modality of Wrestling.
