testVOLLEYBALL

OVERVIEW

Two teams face each other on a hard court. Points are scored by passing the ball over the net, without it being returned by the opponent. Matches are played in three, four or five sets. To win, one of the teams must earn 25 points, with a two-point advantage.

HISTORY

In 1895, the YMCA created a game with elements from basketball, tennis, baseball and handball, called mintonette, to which a net of 1.98 meters was added. It was then renamed because the players “volleyed” the ball. Volleyball was included in the Pan American Games for the first time in 1955.
